ATC: “Ok 187 vancouver tower Missouri left October 298 2 no. 1”
AC187: “Roger No. 1 Air Canada 187”
ATC: “No. 927 taxi Mike Juliet hold short Lima”
Juliet: “Mike Juliet hold short of ahhh lima (mumbled) contact self”
ATC: “Roger on Juliet on contact self then”
ATC: “187 Queenland (mumbled)…”
Queenland: “Queenland (mumbled) to Air Canada 187”
Queenland: “…683 order in (mumbled)”
ATC: “I said 683 no. thanks”
Queenland: “Ok good night”
ATC: “Good night”
ATC: “Now 187 what’s your high speed? Stay with me please what’s your gate number”
AC187: “I’m not sure yet but aahhh I’ll tell you we’re Charlie 61”
ATC: “uhuh”
AC187: “look it’s 685. it’s ok we’re about 7 out”
ATC: “685 tower 2982 Queenland… “
Queenland: “aahhh 2982 3rd land ahh runway 8 left”
ATC: “Roger”
ATC: “Now 187 switch to me on 127.1 now:
AC187: “127.1 air Canada. We’re 187 this is Charlie 41
ATC: “ok 187 roger” pause “Air Canada 187 taxi Mike Juliet and ahhh Juliet Charlie”
AC187: “Roger ok 187”
ATC: “Air Canada 187 and ahhh my girlfriend is on that flight. I was gonna propose to her while you’re on air but I ahhh chickened out”
AC187: “C’mon that’s bad. That’s really, really bad. Give us her name and we’ll gonna tell her then.”
ATC: “Well can I…is it too late?” (nervous)
AC187: “Not too late. Not too late for anything. Do you know where she is sitting?”
ATC: “Ahhh I think she is 25C her name is Christine Waters.”
AC187: “Yeah. Let’s see how we can do this. Standby.”
ATC: “Out”
AC187: “Give me the seat number again and I’ll just double check the name and I’m gonna bring her up to the flight deck.”
ATC: “Seat no. is 25C and her name is Christine Waters.” (really nervours)
AC187: “k…standby” paused “You have a choice. We can put you on the microphone in front of the whole airplane or she can come up the flight deck it’s your call.”
ATC: “Well….put me in front of everybody.”
AC187: “Alright. That’s done.”
ATC: “Roger 685 stand this frequency and taxi-ing”
685: “6 ahhh 685 roger (mumbled)...we’re doing excellent”
ATC: “That’s fine taxi mike and tango. Stand on this frequency alright?”
AC187: “Ok my friend. You are on the whole airplane so go ahead and do your thing.”
ATC: “Alright. Good evening ladies and gentlemen. I am your Air Traffic Controller speaking to you from the control tower control here at Vancouver Airport (catching breath). I hope all of you have enjoyed your flight this evening with Air Canada from Montreal and I welcome all of you to Vancouver.
The reason why I am speaking to you is because there is a very special lady…on your flight this evening. Her name is Christine Waters. Christine, can you raise your hand please? Way up. So everyone can see. Christine, I’m crazy in love with you. I can’t imagine my life without you. You can’t see me right now (catching breath) but I’m down on my knee (catching breath) and I have a ring in my hand (heavy breath). Christine, will you make me the happiest man in the world (catching breath) and be my wife?”
AC187: “Everybody is jumping up and down and she said yes. I can hear all the way back here. I’ll try to get the sound up here in a minute.”
ATC: “Thanks”
AC187: “Otherwise if we don’t…that was really nice Leroy...very, very nice.”
AC187: “…and the whole airplane is shaking…” static interruption “…and she said yes and confirmed by the front person my friend. I’ll have her brought up to the deck…just give me a second”
ATC: “Ok thanks. I really appreciate it.”
ATC: “Come in 187?”
AC187: “Go ahead.”
ATC: “I’m just going out of frequency now. So…ahhh…I’ll just meet her at ahh….the luggage area.”
AC187: “Ok ahhh sure. If that works for you…no problem and all the best for you. I wish you well.”
ATC: “Thank you very much.”
